Times changed and ceramic tiles took over the marketplace with their ready-made polished surfaces and choice of colours. They could be bought off the shelf in a single store visit, drastically reducing the hassle of manufacturing, selection, installation and ready-for-use time for owners of homes, offices and building complexes. Soon, architects, interior designers, builders, contractors and property owners opted for ceramic tiles, leaving decorative cement floors by the roadside.
