The Bharat Floorings products which can be certified as GREEN PRODUCTS for LEED ratings are:

GREEN TERRA INTERIO Durable Surfaces made of Recycled Materials

These are tiles and slabs made of high recycled content and VOC (Volatile Organic Compound) free ingredients. These materials will qualify for the following LEED credits:

MR 4: Recycled Content Increase demand for building products that incorporate recycled content materials, therefore reducing impacts resulting from extraction and processing of new virgin materials Use materials with recycled content such that the sum of post-consumer recycled content plus one-half of the post industrial content constitutes at least 5% of the total value of the materials in the project Products contain recycled content between 30 to 50% of the product by weight. Of the recycled content, generally 80-100% is post-consumer waste, with the balance being post industrial waste.
MR 5: Local and regional materials Increase demand for building materials and products that are extracted and manufactured within the region, thereby supporting the regional economy and reducing the environmental impacts resulting from transportation Use a minimum of 20% of the building materials and products that are manufactured regionally within a radius of 800 km The Bharat Floorings and Tiles factory is located in Thane District of , Maharashtra. Any site within 800 km radius would qualify the product as a regional material
EQ 4: Low-Emitting Materials Reduce the quantity of indoor air contaminants that are odorous or potentially irritating and harmful to the comfort and well-being of installers and building occupants All adhesives and sealants used on the interior of the building (defined as inside of the weatherproofing system and applied on-site) shall comply with the requirements of the reference standard Green Terra products contain no volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and thus emit no VOCs. They are also fixed with adhesives that emit no VOCs.

BEYOND LEED RATINGS


Although not calculated for LEEDS ratings, as part of its commitment to environmental and social responsibility; the manufacturing facilities used for the production of Bharat’s green products are also green. is Over 90% of lighting requirements is met through natural light. Rain water harvesting and ground water recharge provide 100% of water required for manufacture. No water source external to the manufacturing location is used, and no chemicals are released into ground water. Over 90% of industrial waste created in manufacture is recycled at the manufacturing site itself. Packaging materials are biodegradable.


Extended product life cycle is a vital criterion for green products, as it reduces the impact on the environment, and costs arising from early replacement. Maintenance factors are also important for assessing the green qualities of a product over its life cycle. All Bharat Floors’ products have an excellent life cycle due to their instrinsic durability and enduring aesthetic qualities.
